Meet Tina. Tina is a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Summit Hospital in Hermitage. She has been one of our heroes on the front line fighting this awful corona virus pandemic. Why am I telling you this?
Tina is also the director of the Bell Buckle RC-MoonPie 5K Race. Tina knows first hand what this virus can do and the awful ramifications that are caused by not adhering to proper social distancing procedures. The Bell Buckle Chamber of Commerce is lucky to have her. Honestly, we are all lucky to have her. She has been our go-to person on how to proceed with many things in Bell Buckle especially in regards to the upcoming RC-MoonPie Festival that was scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2020.
With that said, it is with a heavy heart and much expanded waistline that we are cancelling this year’s Bell Buckle RC-MoonPie Festival and 10M and 5K Races. This festival and these races are all about having fun, enjoying family, friends, and community, and smiles. The corona virus is just too much of a bad guy to not pay attention and take the proper precautions. We treasure all our runners, vendors, festival goers, and volunteers to ever put them in harm’s way. It’s heartbreaking, but Bell Buckle believes that out of all the bad, that good will come.
And there ARE GOOD THINGS!
Though the festival has been cancelled, the Bell Buckle RC-MoonPie 10M and 5K are going virtual for 2020! Active.com will be hosting the races, and we want to see your photos piling onto our Facebook and Instagram pages! For those who registered before Thursday, April 30th at midnight, those runners will be able to run the virtual race and the 2021 race at no extra charge.*
Virtual runners will have the options of several packages to choose from. Go to sign up and pick the package that best suits you! And due to massive popular demand, we will be offering t-shirts this year commemorating the what is one of the happiest days on earth even if we cannot be together for it this year! Stay tuned to the Bell Buckle Chamber Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Bell-Buckle-Annual-RC-Cola-MoonPie-10-Mile-and-5K-Run-110645583665235 and website for more info on the shirts!
This virtual option is a way to have fun and still stay active. Having a healthy lifestyle is one of the best ways to guard against this pandemic. Wear one of your race shirts from past races, take a photo, and make sure to tag us at @bellbucklechamber on Instagram or @bellbucklechambertn on Facebook or chug an RC and down your favorite flavor MoonPie and tag us and hashtag away! Though we will miss that killer hill and those rolling countrysides, we can still have fun. A positive attitude takes us to better places.
Thank you all for your shoutouts. We will miss seeing your smiling faces in Bell Buckle. Be smart. Be safe. Tina says we need to do this because we all need each other now more than ever.
*These runners will have to let us know by Saturday, June 20, 2020, if they will be running the 2021 race so that transfers can be done without a re-charge.
