Presents Textile Artist and All Round Nice Person Julie Cataldo
This week’s Bell Buckle Master Series presents someone you will like no matter what’s going on in your life! Bell Buckle artist Julie Cataldo is that person that always has a smile and always something nice to say. Not only is Julie so nice, she’s extremely talented.
Julie is a self taught artist with a passion for combining sewing and painting into mixed media fiber paintings and design items. She stitches handmade clothing onto her “portraits” to represent the hands-on intimacy involved in translating, to others, the language of one’s perceived self. Julie invites others to contemplate the question, “Who made your “clothes” and do you feel that you are genuinely represented by any particular item that you yourself did not craft? Do the social, cultural, familial ‘hand-me-downs’ fit you?”
Let’s go to her house and see some of her pieces and hear about her art. You can find Julie’s work in The Bell Buckle Wellness Emporium, The Findery in Bell Buckle and Stillhouse Apothecary in Nashville.
